The National Library auditorium was at full capacity with an appreciative audience for this year’s ‘Letters Out Loud’ superbly hosted by Jennifer Ward Lealand. It was a night to remember since the winds in Wellington were a keen reminder of the conditions when the Wahine sank in 1968. Jennifer Ward Lealand read a most moving letter from a survivor of that tragic event.
If you would like to know more about the letter writers featured in ‘Letters Out Loud’, there will be a Friends Only Special event in March. Professor Emerita Barbara Brookes will introduce you to the writers of the letters and some of the original letters.
